Free software and services for students and staff #
There are many free computing and software resources for staff and students, both provided by the university and by third parties. This page collates some of the popular resources.
- Pegasus software - a collection of site-licensed software provided by the university. Please note that some of this software is licensed for on-campus use only, or may otherwise be restricted to certain staff purposes.
- Azure dev tools for teaching offers staff and students free access to a number of Microsoft Azure compute service and development tools.
- JetBrains offer free student and staff academic licenses for their full suite of tools (including IntelliJ Ultimate and Datagrip).
- GitHub offer a Student Pack, with free software and credits for a variety of SaaS and IaaS platforms. Please note that some of these platforms require a credit/debit card in order to redeem free credits; be careful not to incur any unexpected charges outside your free allowance).
- Microsoft 365 Pro Plus offers active students and staff free access to Microsoft Office on their own devices.
